To the south of Asti, along the Tanaro river, towards Alba and the Langhe.

This area is rich in panoramic itineraries among the orchards of San Marzano Oliveto, the vegetable gardens in the Tanaro valley, the vineyards and the pastures in the northern part of the Langhe.

The most important centre of this area is Canelli, the capital of Moscato, from which derives the Asti Spumante, a world-wide renowned wine.
The cellars of Canelli, veritable "Cattedrali Sotterranee" (underground cathedrals) may soon be inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Among the most important and charming villages we can mention Nizza Monferrato (Museo delle Contadinerie, Museum of rural cultural heritage), Costigliole (Castle and main office of I.C.I.F), Roccaverano (the highest village of the province, famous for the production of the Robiola DOP cheese).
